What is a sentence??
A sentence is a group of words that expresses a complete thought when we write or speak.
Every complete sentence has two parts: the subject and the predicate.

The complete subject of a sentence is the part of the sentence that is being talked about. The subject must include a noun, pronoun or words acting as nouns or pronouns.

The predicate of a sentence is the part that tells something about the subject. The predicate must include an action verb or a linking verb.

A noun is the name of a person, place, thing or idea.
A pronoun takes the place of a noun.
A verb is a word that tells action.
Linking verbs are verbs which connect the subject with a word in the predicate that names or describes the subject. Linking verbs do not show action.

Examples:

Subject Predicate
The car/ drove down the road.

Subject Predicate
The cat / jumped on the table!
